We live in Metamora, IL and have received multiple phone calls from a company that says we'd still pay through Ameren if we take their reduced rate program. Said we are heavy users but we aren't.

We've received a call from 618-666-**** on April 9,April 13,April 14, and 2 calls April 17 (today). We're getting tired of this. I had asked the person who called to send the info to us in the mail. Then he wanted some questions answered.

I'm not going to answer questions on the phone so then I asked him "How do I know if you are who you say you are?" Silence. Now we keep receiving

the calls on dates above. I did speak to a live person..it was not an automatic message. PLEASE stop these calls.

I am on the 'do not call' list, too.

We want these calls STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. Tired of running to the phone for the same people.

Ameren - Monthly Billing Review

Ameren said I owed them 2678.00 in march of 2014 I paid them them 1,289.00 on March 24th which left a balance of 1,273.00 In April I paid them 400.00 .Then on May30th I paid them 400.00 and then called in to discuss this with somebody in June because my previous balance was not going down and my monthly bill was nowhere near what I was sending them each month..I was told to wait til next bill came in to make payment arrangement.I waited then received a shutoff for 1,472.89 Which i paid 896.12 towards that on July 23rd.In August I received a bill for 602.00 which I could not pay .In September I paid that 602.00. It is now Oct and am in fear of what this next bill and shut off will be.I believe around 900.00 .I have given them 3,507.00 since March and my bill is still 900.00 behind when my monthly usage is about 258.00. So they say!!! I also noticed that the bill they added to my husbands bill in the amount of 2037.00 is a different account # kinda strange that our account # is 67604-1**** and that account # is 67604-1****

You are the dumbest person on here. Ameren did not rip you off.

Get a statement and see your usage and payments. It's all on there. You also see on there that you never pay your *** bill. Over 2000?

Lol. Pay. And also about the acct #.

If you have service in your name at and addy and then stop it or someone puts it in their name at the same addy most of the time the last 2 of the acct # change only for the premise. Use your brain

Collection/payements

I pay my bills through online banking. I thought I had pushed pay to Ameren however I must have made a mistake this month and it didn't pay. My bill was due Aug. 7th on Friday Aug. 22nd I received a disconnect order if my bill was not paid by Monday the 25th. By the time I received notice that the bill had not been paid it was Friday night and I was forced to call the # on the notice that turns out to be Western Union and a $2.75 fee is assessed to pay this bill. I feel this is wrong of a company to send a threatening letter to disconnect a needed service when its 100 degrees outside. I can't help but think of all the poor older adults out there that may not always be able to get their bill to a mailbox or someone that is in the hospital. Ameren in my opinion is a bully. After this experience I am questioning Amerens corporate values they are always having these drives for money to help pay bills for the poor but, my question is - Does that money really go to help people or just line the pocket of Ameren corporate?

$20.06 Charge for not using service.

I went to vacation for two months on May, 2014. I called Ameren Illinois and asked them that I want to go vacation and what should i do, the representative of Ameren told me to pay 2 months in advance,it would cover my bills. I did what she said. I saw that there was $20.06 customer charge for not using my gas service on the first gas bill I got after my vacation . I did not use gas service at all but they charge me $20.06. I feel that it is not right to charge this much for not using the service

Ameren make me pay ex roommate bill

My roommate recently just up and moved out one day while I was at work. When I called to have services put in my name they told me only way they would is if I paid the bill for ex roommate.

How can they MAKE me pay a bill on someone else's acct? Isn't it illegal or unlawful for them to demand me to pay someone else's bill. I'm sick of companies thinkn they can do whatever to whom ever.

Their as the *** *** government system we have in office these days. It's unjust and ameren should be charged for this

That is incorrect. Lol.

I work in the call center and bills are tied to people's ssn's not the address or anything else. Do this all the time. You are an ***.

Lol. You must of had it in your name.

You used the electric, in Missouri it is called benefit of service. You owe the bill also. They will not change names to avoid a bill.

Ameren estimate there bills

Ameren UE sucks they etemate there bills and get you for as much as they can. My fist bill with them was 148 dollars but air was broke so expected.

Next bill was 168 just thought we used a lot of power 3rd bill 148 and we stopped using almost everything. They said you didn't use as much but you saved 10 dollars. I stopped using dish washer leaving air off almost every day just to see the difference and it was 10 dollars.

There is know way that it could be that much I have asked people around us how much they pay on average and its around 80 dollars. I beleave they are trying ttotake people s money for nothing

This is 100% correct. They go off previous usage for the previous year.

If June / 2014 you used $200 in electricity, you will get a bill in June / 2015 for $200 +/- a few dollars.

Trying to save power is a waste of time, because any power you do save does not reflect on the current bill.

No help for the needy!!

I lost my job back in November, and unemployment was barely cutting it. With winter chill setting in, my bill was getting pretty high, just keeping the place heated to 60* (I wasn't allowed to do budget billing, because they told me I needed to have my account for a year before I was eligible). I was unable to pay my full bill every month, so I paid as much as I could (usually about half) and just hoped for the best. By the time spring came around, I owed them ~$450 past due and my next bill was ~$160. I never got any information that they were going to cut my power (though they claim they called me, which I have no voice messages from, and no emails, and no paper mail, but whatever), but when they did cut my power, and I called them to try and resolve it, they told me I had to pay the $611 IN FULL before they would turn my power back on!! I asked if it made a difference if I was paying part of the bill every month, and they said "No." It was all or nothing! Even my phone company isn't that cutthroat!! I told them that I was financially strapped, and I couldn't pay the whole thing at once, and they sent me to a voice recording option that gave me SIX non-profit companies that help people pay their power bill!!! When a company gives you a list of SIX!!! third party non-profit organizations that are better at providing customer service than their own company is, that's a horrible sign!!!

Payment options suck!

I wanted to make this a separate entry, for a second incident, but related to the last event.

I was luckily able to get help with the $611 I owed Ameren to get my power back on, but when I tried to pay them, my only options were 1) online payment (which was immediate, and free), 2) mailed in check (which took several days to process), and 3) Western Union (which costs $1).

Usually I pay my bill online, so I had experience with this, but this payment had to come from a different account, so I entered in the account information, paid the bill, and they turned my power back on. A week later, I got an email that it didn't go through. So I went through the process again, only this time more carefully, figuring that I typed it in wrong last time.

A week later, I got the email again. So I went to the bank, and they told me that I had to put 01 in front of my account number anytime I set up anything blahblah, thanks for telling me before now... okay. So I go online to try this again, and it says "You are no longer able to make online payments. Please call for more information."

Turns out, if the bank rejects the payments twice, you get banned from using online payment for a YEAR!!! I am no only able to pay by card or CASH!!! And if I don't pay them cash, my only option is through western union!

It's only a dollar extra every month, fine, whatever, but seriously! They couldn't make life any harder!! I can't believe that I am FORCED to use the company, with NO other option available to me!!

Less helpful than Comcast!

I had some roommates that were running the heating bill in our place to $400. Since this was not something I could put up with, but it was in my name, I quickly cancelled the account, and started finding my own place. In the meantime, I was trying to deal with the financial dispute between my former roommates, so there was a hanging balance on the previous account. When I moved into my new place, a week later, in December mind you, I was shocked to find that they would not give me power in the new place until I paid in full the balance on the previous account! I asked if they could just roll it over to my next bill, or if I could set up a payment plan or anything, but they were unable to work with me at all! I had to pay them all $400 before they would give me heat in my new apt. Luckily my landlord was kind enough to allow me to keep the power in his name, and at the end of the month, I had the money from my roommates and the money for my landlord. I was shocked because Comcast was actually way more willing to work with me on payment options, and that's not even a necissity utility!

Liable for previous owners bill

I recently purchased a piece of property and while fixing it up to move i discovered the previous owners bill was past due by 1000 dollars i called ameren ue to get it switched into my name and they told me i was still liable for it because i owned the property now even though i didnt own the property when bill was incurred. they then shut my electricity off in the middle of winter forcing me to leave my house and live in a hotel with my kids until i pay for the other persons bill. i even called the attorney general and they are all saying im responsible for this other persons bill.

They told me on the phone after giving me a 2000$ bill that was in another persons name, whom they opened contract with, not me. Serious as a heart attack they said, isn't there a government program that can help you? a Church or something?

Amerin likes to *** you in the ***, and make you beg for more. They keep raising their rates, and then give no help to people who are struggling. Do not go for budget bill pay, they will *** even more.

AmerenUE a Joke!

Okay, sometimes the consumer DOES cause the initial problems. My electric bill was huge; no matter what we did it was more than I could afford to pay monthly.

I called a few weeks ago to make sure that I was not in jeopardy of disconnect while I worked on taking money from my thrift savings to pay the amount and my child not suffer from the heat. I was told that we weren't in jeopardy of disconnect and our account was fine. This morning, my power was off. In shock, I called in and complained.

They carried the typical apology and stated that I would not be guaranteed reconnection. I asked for a supervisor and was told 'they were in a meeting.' Okay. I used my emergency credit card and paid the balance and called back. Again, no reconnection guaranteed today.

I asked for a supervisor but again they weren't available. I hung up and called again. With a total of 99 minutes I got "LaKia" the callback supervisor who said that since I was early, I COULD get reconnected but they can't give a guarantee because of other reconnections and disconnects. My thing is, I got no notification of disconnect until they disconnected me.

They claimed to have sent letters but I got none! I got no calls, no letters but disconnected! Lately the heat has sat in the upper 90's to 100's. Fans don't cut it and budget billing is a joke!

What is this world coming to that they'd charge so much for electricity and then make you hold for no help? I've never been disconnected before and this will be the last ever but DANG, where's the help?

Ameren disconnected my service on the 14th because they say the didn't see my payment that was made on the 13th. I have a proof of payment transmission from my bank showing the money was in their account and they had access to this money.

I offered to fax it to them but they said they didn't want it they wanted 332 dollars instead. Yet they say that they didn't see an electronic transfer on their account it. They are charging me a 332 dollar fee for disconnecting my service even though I had made payment . I have complaints with the BBB and the Il commerce commission.

If had a way to post the transmission on here I would. Thier disconnection notice clearly states "payment made on or before the 13th". My payment was made on the 13th. No where on their disconnection notice does it say "when our employees decided to stop walking around with their thumbs up their anuses, gossiping drinking coffee and decide to check the accounts scheduled for disconnection after lunch or whenever they get around to it!".

This is clearly deviant and underhanded business practices.

They had their money now they want 332 dollar more. I think It should be investigated how much money this company makes swindling customers with BS like what they have done to me.
